Is ArtCraft Safe? File Privacy, Downloads and Saving Your Work

Is ArtCraft safe to use? Understand browser file handling, download sources, analytics and practical ways to protect your work in Get Artcraft.

Last updated: 2026-10-18

ArtCraft safety depends on the app, the source and the files you use. The browser editors on Get Artcraft process creative files on your device and do not require an account. That is useful for trying an editor without uploading a project to a cloud workspace, but it is not a guarantee against software bugs, data loss or every privacy risk.

This guide covers getartcraft.org, an independent browser workspace, and explains how it differs from official ArtCraft downloads and AI services. It is not a security audit or a certification of every ArtCraft release.

Which ArtCraft are you using?

The name can refer to the open-source Craft editors, the official ArtCraft AI product, or a website hosting browser versions of the editors. Their privacy and security properties are not interchangeable.

On this site, you open a tool such as PhotoCraft or PdfCraft from its information page. That page links to the upstream source and release. A desktop installer runs outside this website, while a separate AI service may send prompts or media to its providers. Check the service you actually intend to use.

Do my files leave my browser?

The hosted editors handle the files you open in your browser. Get Artcraft does not provide cloud document storage or a cloud backup of your project. This local editing workflow is separate from the network requests needed to load the website and editor software.

Visiting the site still involves normal hosting request data, and the surrounding website uses analytics. Some public pages may also display advertising. Local processing therefore does not mean that the website makes no network requests or collects no visit information. Our privacy policy explains those services and states that the analytics integrations do not receive creative file contents.

For confidential client material, first check your organization's rules for browser tools and third-party websites. A local processing design alone does not establish that a service meets a particular contractual or compliance requirement.

Is open source a safety guarantee?

No. Public source code makes inspection possible; it does not prove that every build has been reviewed or that a specific download is harmless. The PhotoCraft repository provides its source and describes the software as early alpha. Features and reliability can vary between releases and between desktop and browser builds.

If you want a desktop app, follow the project's official GitHub releases, choose the intended platform and read the release notes. Avoid unrelated download mirrors, repackaged installers and pages offering a “cracked” version. Investigate operating-system warnings rather than disabling protection just to proceed.

The practical risk: losing an unsaved project

An editor can be useful and still fail to preserve your latest changes after a tab closes, a browser crashes or a device runs out of memory. Browser recovery storage is not the same as a downloaded backup. Clearing site data can also remove preferences or recovery files.

Before working on something important:

  1. Make a copy of the original file and start with that copy.
  2. Try a small edit, then save or export to your device.
  3. Reopen the result and check the parts that matter: layout, layers, text, images or timing.
  4. Save separate versions during longer sessions, especially before changing tabs or closing the editor.

For example, a thumbnail exported as PNG needs a visual check. A layered project needs an additional check that editable layers survive the save. A successful export message by itself does not answer both questions.

Can I use ArtCraft for everyday work?

Start with a non-sensitive sample and decide based on the result. Read the specific tool's limitations, test the formats you need and keep your original files. For a deadline-critical project, confirm the complete edit-and-export workflow before relying on it.

You can browse the browser tools without installing a desktop package. For related questions, read Is ArtCraft free? and Is ArtCraft legal?. If something on this workspace behaves unexpectedly, use our contact page and describe the tool and browser without including confidential files.
